Spring 2011 Online and Hybrid Course Evaluation

The Spring 2011 Online and Hybrid Course Evaluation is now available. Students have been sent an email with a link to the evaluation asking them to complete this survey for each of their online or hybrid courses. By completing the survey, students even have the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes to win a $100 Amazon gift card... Now I want to complete this survey. : )

Instructor assistance in reminding and encouraging students to complete this evaluation is imperative. Although students were sent an email with a link to the survey, you have a course evaluation button on your course menu that you should make available to your students. After the button is available, you should post an announcement and send your students a reminder email directing them to that button. The more emphasis you put on completing the evaluation, the more students that will complete the survey.

I have placed a link below to a handout that mentions a few small things that you can do that may help increase the number of students that complete the evaluation. I have also included instructions in that handout on how to make the course evaluation button available in case you need some help.

Course Evaluations

Don't forget to remind students in your online and hybrid courses to complete the online course evaluation. You have a course evaluation button on your course menu that you should make available to your students, and then post an announcement and send your students a reminder email directing them to that button. Something that you could keep in mind as you set-up your courses for the spring, you could identify the course evaluation survey as the students' final assignment. For some students, if you treat the evaluation as an assignment that they are required to complete, then they will do it. Some will at least! : )

End of Summer Sessions and Blackboard

It is almost the end of the summer session. There are a couple of things that will need to be done soon or after the end of your session.

1. If you taught a cyber course during any of the summer sessions and have not posted an announcement concerning completing the online course evaluation, please do so ASAP!! There is a button located on the course menu that will direct students to the evaluation. Please place a permanent announcement in your course asking students to click on that button to complete the online survey of the course.
   
2. Once the summer session is completed, please make the course area in Blackboard unavailable to students. Click here to view instructions on how to alter course availability.
